Meet Tavorra Elliott Dist. D
Tavorra Elliott is your District D community candidate running for 2022 Clark County School Board of Education. Tavorra is a Las Vegas native. Born and raised in our beautiful valley and am deeply rooted in the community. An only child, raised by her mother a single parent worked for CCSD for 29 years. Having attended 5 schools in Clark County, Tavorra is quite familiar with the environment. With issues on the table such as fiscal accountability, campus security, teacher's accreditation, and salary.
The Vision
Tavorra's vision is to become something we have never seen. Vegas Strong #1 Nationwide in education.
S.O.S
S.O.S = The most important challenge facing the CCSD, and how, as a school board member, would you address it? The biggest challenge is trust. When the community does not trust your leadership, there will be confusion and anger. I intend to rebuild the trust factor by owning up to my role as a trustee. I will implement an apology plan and apply that plan to action.
S.O.S = Clearly We need help. We need to reach out to the top 10 districts and implement some of the tried and true tactics that they are using. I'm not too proud to beg! Our schools are in crisis and I believe we need all the information we can get to improve our situation immediately!
Addressing the A,B.C's
Tavorra Elliott is an advocate in the fight for our educators, parents, and CCSD law enforcement.
What is my view on maintaining the current structure of the District vs. breaking it up? We don’t need to break the district, but we need to restructure what we have. 320,000 students are at risk. It is a country-wide institution.
How will you encourage and implement parental input into District policies, if at all? Establish clear communication channels between parents and the school board. We can do this by offering things like parent office hours. The board can provide a variety of volunteer opportunities. We can consider offering parents small monetary incentives for becoming involved when they host events. Provide a live person to answer questions via internet chat boards.
United By A Common Goal
S.O.S. = Support Our Schools Save Our Schools!
The principals at each school should have a uniform mission in place that is the same throughout each school in the district. The district school police force should be dramatically increased at least doubled.
S.O.S = We need help. We need to reach out to the top 10 districts and implement some of the tried and true tactics that they are using.
S.O.S.= How will you address teacher shortages ? Increase the pay and benefits structure. If a human resources recruiter can make $80,000 a year in CCSD, so should the educators. Then we may not need to pull from the retirement pool.
